Dahab (Red Sea)
7 – 11 Sep
We had planned to stay a day or two in Dahab.
We ended up staying for over a week.
Dahab is a gloriously laid back town on the red sea where
lounging around and overdosing on mango juice is as de
rigeur as finding the energy to go for a spot of snorkeling
or diving. Restaurants and cafes with cushioned scattered on
the floor line the waters edge and once you sink into them
it is damn hard to get out again….most mornings we spent a
few hours relaxing and sleeping after breakfast before
heading down to the beach for a swim.
After days of lounging around, snorkeling and swimming we
visited Ras Mohammed National Park, a protected marine
reserve brimming with sea life. It blew me away - I have
never seen anything like it. Tall coral reefs that you
literally walk across and swim out into the open water. It
was just amazing to be swimming through all the colourful
fish in such crystal clear water.
