Cairo - Part 1
18 – 20 September
We have always been lucky enough to have family and friends
all over the world that we have been able to stay with on
some of our travels. So when May, a friend of Paul’s mum
invited us to stay with her in Cairo we were thrilled at the
thought of not having to find accommodation in a city full
of touts.
We weren’t expecting to be given our own APARTMENT.
We stayed in Cairo for two days, visiting the citadel and
the Egyptian Museum which was one of the highlights of this
trip. I knew we’d be seeing the museum with a guide on our
tour but I wanted to spend some time in there without being
rushed around. We spent nearly three hours walking around
with our guidebook and discovering all the magnificent
ancient treasures. Most magnificent of all was Tutankhamen’s
lot – massive gilded burial chambers fitting inside each
other like babushka dolls and of course, that famous mask.
