Prior to leaving Australia,
the only notion we had of beaches were long, white, sandy
ones with frothy waves crashing along the shore. The two
things you learn very quickly after travelling through
Europe are (1) “beaches” can usually be found anywhere there
are a bunch of rocks leading into the sea and (2) these
beaches contain hazards not normally found back home:
slippery wet rocks and sea urchins. So armed with protective
reef shoes – hardly a glamorous look but a necessity
considering these hazards - we spent two weeks island
hopping in
Croatia before
heading north to
Slovenia
for some fresh alpine air...
